AIIT and ATPC organize Two Day IT Summit, Version 2.0 – New Era of Testing

Indian IT industry has witnessed a phenomenon growth over a period of time and with new opportunities as well as challenges for the industry and educational institutions. In view of the same, Amity Institute of Information Technology(AIIT) and Amity Technical Placement Centre (ATPC) in association with Step IN Forum organized a two day “IT Summit, Version 2.0 – New Era of Testing” at University campus, Sector- 125, Noida.

 

Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Sunil Kumar Khatri, Director AIIT said that it is a great opportunity for students to learn and interact with industry doyens who have achieved success with their innovative ideas and experiences. He shared that the objective of the industry interaction meet is to bridge the huge gap regarding the readiness of students for industry hiring. He stressed that there is a need to instill lot of professional skills through industry updated training. Dr. Khatri apprised that the summit will help in formulating the curriculum as per industry needs.

 

Emphasizing on changing hiring trends in industry, Dr. Ajay Rana- Director, ATPC shared that earlier, the Industry was only inclined to have a candidate with good communication skills clubbed with an attitude to learn and grow. However, in today’s time, companies share their expectations and learning modules well in advance with the educational institute and want those to get delivered by its faculties even before completing the degree programme from college. Dr. Rana further added ‘student training and competency development tools’ are easily accessible and available to all but most important is the culture and inclusive environment offered at educational institution which creates global leaders and entrepreneurs. Fertile environment motivates students towards innovation and think beyond the defined limits.

 

Addressing the gathering, Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that IT industry is changing rapidly and the convergence of technology with various industries is much faster and better than in the past decade. She remarked that developing technology and machinery are going to change the availability of jobs in future. The students should be prepared for more of project based jobs rather than full time jobs. She advised the students to adapt new skills as per the changing business scenarios. Dr. Shukla further added that industry expectations are changing as they are seeking for flexible and innovative employees with problem solving skills. 

 

Sharing his views during the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Deepak Chopra- Vice President-Genpact apprised that there has been a fear from Artificial Intelligence of taking over the existence of humans in terms of work. “However, the real fear that needs to be addressed is the correctness and traceability of decisions that Artificial Intelligence can take. The actions and responses of intelligent machines will differ over time and thus, will be less predictable than traditional IT-systems.” he averred. Mr. Chopra highlighted that quality assurance and control is the best known measure to monitor the corrections in technology and automated machinery. He stressed that the importance and power of testing of automation is drastically going to increase in the coming time since everything will be technology driven. He emphasized on the modification of existing artificial intelligence that can be used for testing of advance technology.

 

During the day, Colonel Prabir Sengupta (CEO, Achilles Research and Analysis Wing - ARAW) presented a motivational talk on “Unleashing your true potential.”

 

As part of two day summit, a panel discussion was held on topic "Expectations from Youth" wherein eminent panelists including Mr. Sameer Mathur, SMConsulting Pvt Ltd; Ms.Itishri Singh, CEO & Founder, Campus Puppy Pvt Ltd;Mr. Rishi Rais, Co-Founder & CTO, Dignitas Digital; Mr. Manish Dabas, CEO,ACEZD, Mr. Arun Singh, Head Expert Service, Thinksys; Mr. G D Pandey, Head IT,Poly Medicure Ltd; Mr. Achin Sharma, GM - IT Applications, Royal Enfield; Mr.Royston Botelho - Business Head - CALYXPOD and Ms. Varsha Deb, Delivery Lead,Sopra Steria emphasized on the importance of values, constant learning and collaborations and shared their views on how the budding IT professionals can prepare themselves to be industry ready.

 

Interacting with the students, Mr. Achin Sharma, GM - IT Applications, Royal Enfield remarked, “Knowledge can be gained, skills can be acquired but the most important factor is to imbibe a positive and persuasive attitude. It is necessary to demonstrate your skills through right attitude for selection during the interview.” He pointed out that students must inculcate the ability to learn, un-learn and re-learn for a progressive career.

 

Mr. Nishant Bhalla - VP & Head - Sales - Info Edge India Ltd called upon the students to be job ready, students must learn about changing industry trends by possessing general knowledge about the current happening and issues related to the industry and around the world. He stressed on the need to get market insights by thoroughly reading various publications and journals highlighting the latest research and studies about the industry. Mr. Bhalla advised the budding professionals to develop skills and be future ready by having progressive thoughts because companies prefer candidates who have vision, which can be aligned with company goals and emphasized upon building soft skills that relates to a person’s attitude, team spirit, problem solving skill etc. “A company seeks for an employee who can work in collaborative environment and integrate his achievements with the achievements of the organization.” he opined.

 

Another panel discussion was held on “Real Time Problems and Solutions- the task force”wherein the panelists deliberated upon the various challenges related to industry academia gap, issues in work environment etc. During the two day summit, special sessions and paper presentations were conducted by industry experts,

 

The summit was attended by more than 300 industry delegates and students of Amity University.
