Amity School of Communication (ASCO) and Amity Institute of Event Management organized two day National Media Festival “The Big Picture” from February 18- 19 at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
Big Picture, the annual two day media festival, is an attempt to explore the contemporary movements in the world of media. It serves as an excellent platform for top media professionals, academicians and students to come together for creative exchanges in the fields of television, film, photography, music and advertising. "The Big Picture" aims to promote not just entertainment but a sense of perception, patience and most importantly give confidence to the students to face the challenges of the coming times.
This year’s “Big Picture” started with “PIXELS”- the Photo Exhibition in which students of ASCO showcased their photographs based on different social issues haunting the society. The main attraction of the exhibition were the photographs clicked by the girl students enrolled under “ Amitasha Project” running under Amity Humanity Foundation The project aims to ameliorate the condition of underprivileged girl children. Amitasha endeavors to provide school, home and security to the underprivileged girls for overall growth of the society. The photographs clicked by these children were very expressive and clearly showed that talent is not a prerogative of a particular strata of society.
It was a stupefying moment for all the students and faculty members when Mr. Ashutosh Kaushik- the lucky winner of “ BIGG BOSS Season 2” visited Amity on the first day of the Festival and entertained the audience with his “DESI” dialect. He had lively interaction with the students of Amity and shared his views on “How real are the Reality Shows?”
In “Time Code- Film Festival”, nine films from different colleges of Delhi/ NCR were showed. There were two major film categories-fiction and nonfiction. Dr. Lavleen Thandani-Filmmaker, Writer and Actor adjudged the competition. In the fiction category, Shabhas from Massco Media received the first prize for his movie “Staircase”. Himanshu Dixit from AAFT was announced winner in the non fiction category for his movie “A Silent Scream.”
In the solo dance competition, students left the audience spellbound and mesmerized with their sk1ll, finesse and moves. Ms. Sanam Johar from Hindu College bagged the first prize worth Rs. 2000, and Mr. Eby John from Amity School of Communication won the second prize worth Rs. 1500.
The show stealer was “Bike stunt Showcase” in which bikers from “RODS (Riders For Storm)” group performed amazing and heart throbbing stunts. The “RODS” group is active from last four years and are promoting free style biking stunt as an adventure sport in India. This event was organized to make an awareness amongst students regarding proper riding sk1lls and not to initiate stunts at the cost of their lives.
In the street play Competition, first prize was won by Khalsa College based on the theme “ TRP”, second prize was won by Kamla Nehru College for a play which was a “Satire on liberation of urban women” and third prize was bagged by Amity School of Communication for a play themed on
Other prominent competitions that enthralled everyone during the two day extravaganza included “ Radio Jockeying”, “Rock Show”, “News Reading and Interviewing”, “Theatre (stage) Competition” , “ Fashion Show” and “AD Mad- the advertising event”.
During the festival, Ms. Manjushree- DDG (Promotions), CWG from Common Wealth Games including other officials visited Amity University and screened over hundreds of students who would like to work as volunteers during the much awaited CWG, the results of the same will be announced in few weeks and the chosen students will be intimated by CWG .“SHERA” the mascot of Common Wealth Games interacted with the students of Amity and became the centre of attraction for one and all.
Numerous colleges and Universities from Delhi / NCR participated in the Media Fest including IP University, Gargi College, Kirori Mal College, LSR, Kamla Nehru, Delhi College of Arts, Khalsa College, SRCC and many more.
