Hepatitis is a global health problem and is amongst the ten most important killers in the world. Hepatitis is a serious disease that affects the liver and can cause long-term damage. It is causes by infection by a virus. Hepatitis B is the most common but there are several other types and associated virus.
“Hepatitis Day” is organized on 4th of December every year for the last 7 years. This year also the G.B. Pant Hospital and Department of Family Welfare organized the 8th “Hepatitis Day” with the support of Amity Group
Speaking on the occasion, the Hon'ble Lt. Governor said, “ Hepatitis awareness campaign should be made round the year and not just confined to one day and should be included in school education program.” He was happy that children of more than 12 schools had actively participated in the campaign. The brand ambassador Padamshri Shovana Narayan and Mugdha Kalra, renowned journalist, remarked that there should be more joint efforts between the media and medical fraternity. Speaking on role of education Dr. Ashok Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation remarked that all schools and other educational organizations should have a health column in respective magazines to promote health awareness. Dr. KK Agarwal, President DMA said “healthcare organizations need to play the pivotal role in spreading awareness and stressed on vaccination of all healthcare workers.”
