Amity Academic Staff College under the guidance of Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Pro VC (A) & DG, ASET orgainsed a half day Faculty Training Programme on ‘Conduct of Environment Study Course in Under Graduate Programmes’ on 24 June 2010 at Amity University.
21 faculty members from 11 institutions of Amity University participated the programme actively. Dr. B K P Sinha, Director, Amity School of Natural Resource & Sustainable Development (ASNRSD) and Dr. A.L Verma, HOD, Amity Institute of Applied Sciences (AIAS) were the resource persons.
While presenting the opening remarks, Dr. B K P Sinha explained the importance and diversity of teaching the Environment Study Course in UG Programmes of higher education. Dr. Shukla inspired the participants to make the course more interesting by moving beyond classroom teaching. She put emphasis on the Field work and students visits to places where students can get practical exposure.
For effective course delivery various issues & methodologies were worked out during the programme. Dr. A L Verma in his lecture motivated faculty members to involve students in various activities through formation of clubs & committees, organizing quiz, competitions, seminars, conferences, Environment Day celebrations etc.
Dr. Nidhi Gauba, faculty from Amity School of Engineering & Technology focused on the Session Planning & Academic Delivery of the Environment Study course through various lectures across the first year education.
Ms. B.Vidya Kaumudini, Faculty from Amity School of Communication and Ms. Meenakshi Gujral, faculty from Amity School of Business explained and presented the Case Studies which can be taught to the students while teaching the Environment Sciences course.
Dr. Verma summarized the programme by highlighting the various decisions taken and strategies worked out during the sessions and thanked the speakers, organisers and the participants.
