High Level Delegation From Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) Visits Amity University

High level delegation from Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) visited Amity University, sector – 125, Noida to discuss “Post Harvest Technology & Cold Chain Management”.

Dr. Ashok. K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group welcomed the high profile delegation from GCCA and said “The wellness of farmers greatly factor in completing the responsibility of Nation building. Knowledge of Post Harvest technology is essential for the rural farmers to attain agricultural development.”

Mulling over the collaboration between GCCA and Amity, Mr. Bill Hudson, President & CEO, GCCA, said that “the synergy efforts of the collaboration would make Amity and GCCA together a leader in providing knowledge and training on Post Harvest technology and Cold Chain Management to the stakeholders”. It is important for farmers that they identify the strengths and weaknesses of the existing agricultural pattern and expnand themselves to innovative ideas of Cold storage and Refrigeration.”

Mr. Mike McClendon, Chairman, World Food Logistics Organization (WLFO) and President, Richmond Cold Storage, emphatically said that the alliance with Amity will facilitate advanced research and technical education in the field of agriculture and will introduce best practices and add best value to agriculture sector.” Mr. McClendon recommended that Amity and WFLO must form a global coaching alliance to ensure best returns for the farmers.

Mr. Mark Blanchard, Chairman, International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW) and President & CWO of NOCS, dwelt on the importance of educating the farmers with best research findings and scientific know how.

Mr. Neal Rider, Chief Operating Officer and President, Americold, stated that “there is tremendous potential for industrial development in India. Improved marketing strategies and effective transportation and logistics management can help the farmers in prospering.” Mr. Rider averred that the agricultural sector is still falling short in terms of technical expertise and refrigeration and thereby suggested that training and education in this field could be a promising career in the times to come.
