Seminar on “Applications of Genome Research: The Role of DNA Fingerprinting” organised at Amity University Lucknow campus

One day seminar on “Applications of Genome Research: The Role of DNA Fingerprinting” was held on September 28, 2006 at Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University, Lucknow campus.

The chief guest of the function was Dr. Lalji Singh, Director Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, and Dr. CM Gupta, Director Central Drug Research Institute, Dr. SPS Khanuja Director, Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Dr. R. Tuli Director, National Botanical Research Institute were guest of Honour. All the guests were welcomed by Director General of Amity Lucknow campus Maj. Gen. K.K. Ohri AVSM Retd., Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Additional President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation also addressed the gathering. On this occasion Amity Institute of Biotechnology Lucknow got inducted as a Nodal Centre of the Genome Foundation.

Vote of thanks for the first session was given by Dr. Rajiv Dutta, Head Amity Institute of Biotechnology. In the Technical Session Dr. R. Chandra, Head Biotechnology Division, Central Institute for subtropical Horticulture and Dr. D. Singh, Head Entomology Division gave a very informative scientific talks on DNA finger-printing. Apart from eminent scientists students of ABC Mr. Suresh Yadav and Mr. Saurabh Pandey gave seminar on their summer training projects. At the end of technical session Ms Pragati Sahai gave a presentation on the topic of her PhD. Thesis, which she is pursing at AIB, Amity Lucknow Campus.
