Amity Institute of Behavioral and Allied Sciences, Lucknow Campus celebrates Mental Health Day

Amity Institute of Behavioral and Allied Sciences, Lucknow Campus celebrated Mental Health Day on 18th October, 2011. The following events were organized to commemorate the day: •Quiz on psychology was organized by Mind Joggers Club which is an initiative of students of AIBAS •A poster competition on the theme “Healthy Mind for Healthy Body” •Launching of e-newsletter of AIBAS. Students from Amity University and three colleges of Lucknow - Career Convent Girls degree college (11students), Awadh Degree College (6 students), I.T. College (7 students) enthusiastically took part in Quiz and Poster Competition. The esteemed guests for the event were Dr. Manjul Pandey Parvez, Head, Department of Psychology, Awadh Degree College, Dr. Hamda Zarin, Head, Department of Psychology, Isabella Thouborne Degree College and Dr. Naghma, Head, Department of Psychology, Career Convent Girls Degree College. A e-newsletter highlighting the events and other activities of AIBAS was also inaugurated by esteemed guests and Prof. (Dr.) Manju Agrawal, Director AIBAS. The newsletter also aims at bringing awareness about current and important issues related to psychology and information of the forthcoming events, conferences and new trends in the field. It has a 'Your Q and A Section' in which the students of Amity University, Lucknow Campus are invited to ask questions which will be answered by experts from AIBAS and other psychologists. Addressing the gathering Prof. (Dr.) Manju Agrawal, Director, AIBAS stressed on the strong need of spreading mental health awareness in our country and taking psychology to the masses. She highlighted the fact that there is no health without mental health. She also talked about cases where people were able to fight debilitating and terminal diseases by ‘positive thinking’ and optimism.
