A debate was conducted at Amity University Madhya Pradesh on the 20th April, 2012. It was organized by the students of M.B.A. – IInd Semester and all other students were the participants. The topics for the debate were: 1) Should Euthanasia be permitted? 2)Should Capital Punishment be abolished? 3)Is India poised to be a super power by 2020? The debate started with the Saraswati Poojan and lightning of lamp followed by Vice Chancellor’s address. The judges for the debate were Lt Gen V K Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-chancellor, Dr. R.S. Tomar, Dean Academics, Dr.Iti Roy Chowdhury, Dy Director ASCENT, Dr. Manisha Jain, Dr. Dipti Joshi, Mr. K. Muthuvel. Total eighteen students from the different branches, participated. Six in each topic, out of six, three were in favor and three were against. The participants spoke first for the motion followed by against. There was also a team of judges from the students of MBA. Ms. Mandakini Tomar, Ms. Akshita Sharma, and Mr. Arpit Singh Negi were for the first and third topic while Ms. Abhilasha Sikarwar, Mr. Anjul Sharma, and Mr. Rahul Bhadoria for the second topic. Students from different branches were called to speak in favor or against the topic, alternatively. Followed by each debate, there was an free discussion round in which the audience was invited to express their views on the topic of discussion, followed by the Vice Chancellor’s summering up remarks on the topic. After the debates, the winners and runners of each topic were announced by the judges. The winner of the first topic was Mr. Vageesh Shekhawat, and runner up Mr. Mayank Sharma. Ms. Nidhi Singh, was winner for second topic and runner up was Ms. Payal Singh Baghel. The winner of the third topic was Ms. Manisha Sharma, and there was tie for the runner up between Mr. Shubham Kapoor, and Ms. Priyanka Singh. The awards were presented to the winners by the Honorable Vice Chancellor. Ms Benezir Qureshi, an MBA student was compering the debate program. The debate was concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Rahul Singh MBA student. The debate was attended by all the students, faculties and administrative staff of AUMP.
