Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) the National Body of Domestic Tour Operators achieved milestone by organizing its First Annual convention on 20th January, 2007 at Ashok Hotel, New Delhi. 50 students of Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism got an opportunity to participate in this convention as volunteers & participants who took the whole charge at the counters for invitees, delegates & press and guided these people to the venue.
The Convention was being supported by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, Department of Tourism, Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir, MP Tourism, Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. Jet Airways (I) Ltd, Radisson, Indian Airlines and other Industry Players.
The Association was constituted in 1996 to consolidate the interest of Domestic Tour Operators in the country by bringing them under one umbrella to strengthen the growth and base of domestic tourism by promoting and marketing various destinations in the county. Presently, ADTOI has over 200 members on its rolls.
The convention showcased the potential of domestic tourism – the hidden treasure, which is still being tapped in many regions of the country due to lack of understanding and awareness among the travelers.
The convention was being inaugurated by Smt. Ambika Soni, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism and Culture, Govt. of India, who was the Chief Guest and was presided over by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Dr. M. Sajnani, Director, Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism & two other Faculty members Ms. Reena Sharma & Mr. Mahesh Uniyal were there to attend the convention, where they could see the 10 volunteers & 40 participants performing the best of their capabilities and reflecting thorough professionalism right from the registration, ushering, welcoming and enhancing their knowledge by interacting greatly with the delegates. They have managed to open greater opportunites for their fellow students and juniors and creating a name for themselves. The event organizer Ms. Deepika Choudhary was impressed and encouraged the students for their active involvement and participation. With respect to that the Department has decided to give them certificate of excellence to the following 10 volunteers:-
