In today’s world from services to products, wastage of energy to its conservation, many opportunities exists for entrepreneurs with government support for developing green business plans in the area of including solar sales and installations, or energy conservation in order to address the dearth of Green business plans in India, Amity School of Natural Resources & Sustainable Development organized Green Business Contest-2012 at Amity University, Noida, Sector-125 wherein 60 contestants participated from various B-Schools from 8 States.
Welcoming the gathering Dr. B.K.P Sinha, Director, Amity School of Resources and Sustainable Development said that Green Business Plans contributes a lot to Economic Growth. He also told participants that there is a need of proper market analysis, financial projection and understanding of the field and project before devising and implementing a green business plan. “Anyone who believes that exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist”, said Dr. Sinha.
During the Contest, participants proposed Green Business Ideas with immaculate business plans for the same. Participants also supported the solutions of the problems occurring while executing the plan with a detailed green market analysis. Through their presentations, participants demonstrated how to prepare and modify green business plans that could meet the expectations of investors and lenders.
While delivering her speech Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that a good business plan demonstrates the planner’s thinking about business, making it clear what does he want to achieve, his long term and short term plans to achieve the objectives & goals. She also added that how do students look at the environment and makes business plans accordingly is important. “Deforestation and Global Warming is taking place these days which is reducing the green shield on the earth therefore green business plans are the need of the hour” remarked Dr. Shukla.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. M.P. Bezbaruah, IAS (Retd.), Former Union Secretary (Tourism); Director, Administrative Staff College of India; Banking Ombudsman and Permanent Representative of UN-WTO said that Sustainable development is something which is much talked about but less understood. There is a need to propose sustainable green business ideas and create an environment friendly business plans added Mr. Bezbaruah. He also added that Green businesses provide a powerful opportunity to make money and make a difference with green environment. “Pollution, Deforestation and Global Warming can be prevented by implementing more Green Business Plans” avers Mr. Bezbaruah.
