Architectural and Civil Structures: An Urban Perspective

Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) and Amity School of Architecture and Planning (ASAP) of Amity University Madhya Pradesh Located at Gwalior jointly conducted a seminar on “Architectural and Civil Structures: An Urban Perspective” on 03 May 2013. The seminar started with traditional lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Inaugurating the seminar,Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. V. K. Sharma delivered his opening remarks on the theme by focusing on various perspectives of Architectural and Civil Structures. Mr.Tarun Mittal, Architect was the Guest of Honour of the seminar. He delivered the keynote address on Urban Form and Structure to the participants of the seminar. Prof. (Dr.) Alok Sharma (MITS) Gwalior and Ar. Sudhanshu D.R. Mandlik, Principal Architect/Founder [Scientist] Architects were the special invitees of the seminar. Mr. Sudhanshu D.R Mandlik, delivered a special address on Cities and Buildings-Feedback Loop and shared his experiences to the participants.

 The students of first year B.Arch. and B.Tech. (Civil Engineering)of Amity University Madhya Pradesh delivered a number of well- researched presentations in the focus area with sub-themes on History of Indian Architecture and Civil Structures, Issues related to Urban Structures in India, Government Rulesand Regulations, Factors Considered for Urban Structure, and Master Plans of various Indian cities. Barkha Mathur, Ankit Shrivastava, Rahul Singh Bhadoriya presented a paper on History of Indian Architecture and Civil Structures. Shalini Sharma,Vishakha Batham and Shyambir Singh presented a paper on Issues related to Urban structures in India. Bhaskar Sharma,Nishant Verma, Kshitij Vats and  Gaurav Singh Sengar presented a paper on Government Rules and Regulations for Urban Design. Kriti Agrawal and Akrati Sharma presented a paper on Factors considered for urban Structure.Pooja Garg, Charul Garg and Namita Gupta presented a paper on Master Plan of Gwalior City. Finally, Abhiyank Parashar, Anshul Upadhyay, Abhishek Anand, Angad Singh Chatrath and Aditya Agrawal presented a paper on Master Plan of DelhiCity. The student presentations were formalized under the active guidance of Prof. Yogendra Pal Singh, Mr. Mohan Kantharia and Mr. Siddharth Singh Jadon of ASAP and ASET.  The programme was hosted by Ms. Barkha Mathur  and Mr. Bhaskar Sharma  (1st Year B.Arch.).   

Participation certificates were distributed to all the speakers and outside participants of the seminar by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, AU MP and the Guest of Honour. A number of professionals,researchers, students and educationists from Gwalior also volunteered to participate in the seminar. The Dean (Academics), Director (Administration),Heads of Schools, faculty members, staff members and students of AUMP were present on the occasion. A vote of thanks was proposed by the convener of the programme. The programme was conducted by Prof. Y.P Singh (HOI- ASAP) and Dr. Bikram K. Bahinipati (HOI- ASET) of  Amity University Madhya Pradesh. The event was highlighted by overwhelming participation by students and faculties of Amity University and other institutes in Gwalior, which was organized in the packed-house auditorium of the university. The seminar ended with a standing ovation to the guest speakers, student presenters and the organizers.
