JAIPUR: For the students of Amity University Rajasthan, it was an afternoon to remember.
Six key players of Rajasthan Royals - Shane Watson, Brad Hogg, Ajinkya Rahane, Stuart Binny, Sanju Samson, James Faulkner – spent two hours with them in the auditorium. Every seat in the auditorium was taken by students, who crowded the aisles and even sat on the steps.
The excitement peaked when the Rajasthan Royals players walked into the auditorium with their signature tune Halla Bol rising to a crescendo.
The Honourable Chancellor Shri Aseem Chauhan welcomed the Rajasthan Royal players. He pointed out the long association that Amity University Rajasthan has had with Rajasthan Royals, and promised to continue it further.
The CEO of Rajasthan Royals, Shri Raghu Iyer, thanked Amity University for sponsoring the team, and showing faith in it for six years.
The players participated in the proceedings with enthusiasm, answering questions posed by excited students. Shane Watson was clearly the centre of attraction. A big roar went up when he started his speech with a “Namaste”.
Brad Hogg, who at 41 was introduced as the “youngest” member of the squad by Shri Iyer, waded into the crowd with a mike in hand. He too was lustily cheered by the crowd.
The student excitement rose to a fever pitch when Shri Raghu Iyer announced two special VVIP passes for two lucky Amity students. A sea of hands went up following the announcement. Finally, the Chairperson of Amity Group, Dr Amita Chauhan, selected two students to watch Tuesday’s match.
The Honourable Chancellor added to the cricket fervour by giving 50 tickets to the students for the May 7 match between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils.
