Sharing his views with the gathering, Prof. Menon said that the worrying issue in Indian education sector is no more access but quality of education. He remarked that when no Indian educational Institution made it to the top 200 educational institutions of the globe, people blamed policies, political interference, shortage of funds etc but the real reason, he averred, is shortage of talent and inability to use Human Resources in a productive manner. He called upon the Universities to stop looking for alibis and accelerate the R&D initiatives and publication works in the future. He advised Indian Universities to do more with less resources and work towards bridging the chasm between prosperous shining Urban India and Impoverished Rural India. He stressed that Indian graduates are trained to serve Corporates but not the weaker sections of society including women, children, disabled, SC and ST. Educational Institutions especially the Law Schools have to do justice to the needs of other India. Referring to Article 51A in The Constitution of India which relates to the fundamental duties of every citizen and advocates that every Indian citizen should strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of endeavour and achievement, Prof. Menon suggested that same should be scribed on the Degrees and Diplomas to make youth of the country realize that they have an obligation (social and personal) to serve the country and weaker sections of society.
