Climatic Responsive Architecture &Construction Techniques

Amity School of Architecture and Planning (ASAP), Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, conducted a seminar on “Climatic Responsive Architecture & Construction Techniques” on 21 March 2014. The seminar started with the traditional Saraswati Vandana and lighting of  the lamp  by the Chief Guest Dr Sudhir Mishra, IIT Kanpur, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor AUMP, Lt Gen VK Sharma , AVSM (Retd), Dean Academics, Prof Dr RS Tomar and Dr Y P Singh, HOI, ASAP.

 

Hon'ble Vice Chancellor AUMP, Lt. Gen. V. K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd)  in his opening remarks  focused on the varied problems of  environment that the globe is faced with today and how the judicious use of building materials and  the design of buildings can help combat those problems . Dr. Sudhir Mishra from I.I.T. Kanpur, Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, spoke of the role of architects in designing buildings in response to the prevailing climatic conditions and   for sustainable development.

 

The students of first year B.Arch. and B.Tech. (Civil Engineering)of Amity University Madhya Pradesh delivered a number of well- researched presentations on the focus area with sub-themes on Passive Design Principles for Sub-tropical Climatic Zones in India, Low Embodied Energy and Recycled Building Materials, Active Design Methods and Smart Features, Building Analysis and Performance Measures, Day lighting & Thermal Comfort in Buildings.

Udiga Sai Nikhil, Aishwarya Ram, Shraddha Dutta presented a paper on Passive Design Principles for Sub-Tropical Climatic Zones in India. Shanglakpam Prithvi Sharma, Anubha Jain, Aishwarya Mahna presenteda paper on Issues Related to Low Embodied Energy and Recycled Building Materials.Agnijit Das, Kartikay Kochhar, Palak Sharma presented a paper on Active Design Methods and Smart Features. P.V.S.N.R. Ruchitha, Rishabh Bhadouria, Naina Khatri presented a paper on Building Analysis and Performance Measures. Finally Shailesh Kukreja,Mayank  Goswami, M.Pawan Sai, Atif Mohd.Khan from Civil Engg. Deptt. presented a paper on Daylighting & Thermal Comfort in Buildings.

 

The student presentations were formalized under the active guidance of Prof. Yogendra Pal Singh, Mr. Siddharth Singh Jadon, Ms.Monika S.Gupta and Mr Vishnu K. Paharia of ASAP and Mr. Mohan Kantharia of ASET.  The programme was hosted by Ms. Barkha Mathur  and Ms. Akrati Sharma (II Year B.Arch.).  

 

Participation certificates were distributed to all the speakers of the seminar by the Chief Guest and the  Hon’ble Vice Chancellor,AUMP . The Dean (Academics), Director (Administration), Heads of Schools,faculty members, staff members and overwhelming number of  students were present in the seminar. The event culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by  Prof. Y.P Singh (HOI-ASAP).
