A Report

Amity School of Communication organized a Film Festival “Cineaste 2014” on March 26th 2014 under the esteemed supervision of Dr. Sumit Narula, Head of the Department and coordinated by Mr Sandesh Mahajan and Ms Saumya Saxena.

Mr. Himansh Kohli (Fame Yaariyan) aluminous of Amity University Noida, was the Chief Guest of this Film Fest along with Dr. Gauri Chakravorty, Head of Technical Services & Associate Professor Amity University Noida who was the Guest of honor in this Fest.

The program started at 01: 30 PM with the lamp lighting ceremony by the Guest of Honour Dr. Gauri Chakraborty along with the respected Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen VK Sharma, AVSM (Retd) and Dean Academics Dr R. S. Tomar.

The Film Festival began with the opening remarks of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen VK Sharma, AVSM (Retd).  Dr. Gauri Chakraborty in her key note address spoke of the intricacies of film making.  This was followed by Mr Himansh Kohli addressing and sharing his memories and experiences with Amitians.

Together with the students of AUMP many outside participants also were a part of Cineaste.

A total of 40 entries were received for the festival out of which 10 entries were shortlisted for screening. A panel of juries reviewed and selected the films for following categories of awards :

1.     Best Film                        -        Beej Jo Maine Boya tha

2.     Best Direction                -        No Less

3.     Best Cinematography     -        Aasra

4.     Best Script                     -        Kasht

The best film was given to a certificate cash prize of Rs. 11,000/- along with gift vouchers.  For other categories the award was a cash prize of Rs. 3,000/- along with certificates and gift vouchers.

The film fest ended up with the mind boggling performance of Mr Himansh Kohli, where whole University danced to the sound of music.


The 1 day workshop hosted by our esteemed Guest Dr. Gauri Chakraborty and organized by Amity School of Communication under the supervision of Dr. Sumit Narula (Head of Department) coordinated by Mr Sandesh Mahajan and Ms Saumya Saxena was held on March 27th2014 at Amity University Campus.

A large number of students of Amity University Madhya Pradesh along with students from outside participated enthusiastically in the Workshop. The objectives of the Workshop were to make the students familiar with the concepts of film making like Camera Handing Techniques, Script Writing , Direction, Film Appreciation and  importance of various forms of arts in Cinema.

 Movie clippings were also shown to the audience during the Workshop.

The event was a great success and students gained a lot of knowledge and true understanding of cinema and the process of film making.
