Rally on "Vote for Democracy"
Amity University Madhya Pradesh organized a Rally on “Vote for Democracy” on April 12, 2014. The Rally was a part of the awareness campaign launched to educate people about their voting rights and in sync with the Lok Sabha Election 2014-Gwalior goes to poll on 17th April.
The Rally started from the samadhi of the brave Rani of Jhansi Laxmi Bai and covered a distance of about 2.5 kilometers through the main streets of Gwalior. Leading from the front was the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt Gen V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd) who also briefed the media and the students regarding the relevance of the Rally as well as that of individual votes. He was accompanied by the Registrar, Director (Administration), Deans,Heads of Institutes, members of the faculty and staff as also a large number of students.
The placards bearing students also distributed handbills to passersby in order to educate them about their democratic rights. Even the scorching heat of Gwalior did not deter the Amitians during their 2 hours march across the city.
The Rally ended with the address of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor exhorting everyone to exercise their voting right for a healthy democracy.
