Amity School of Insurance and Actuarial Sciences (ASIAS) kicked off fifth academic session of MBA- Insurance (2 years) and eighth and third academic sessions of PGDIM (one year) and M.Sc.- Actuarial Science (2 years) respectively. To welcome the freshers and familiarize them with the University, faculty members and course curriculum, orientation program was held at Amity University, Sector- 125, Noida wherein Chief Guest, Mr. Sam Ghosh- CEO, Bajaj Allianz Insurance Company; Dr. Gurinder Singh- Pro- Vice Chancellor, Amity University and Shri R. R. Grover- Director, ASIAS blessed the new batch of students.
Welcoming the new batch, Chief Guest Mr. Sam Ghosh- CEO, Bajaj Allianz Insurance Company said that Indian market has been declared fastest growing market in the last financial year. It has tremendous opportunities and enormous potential, which lies untapped therefore all those students who have decided to make their careers in this field have made a discreet choice. GDP rate is growing and people are either under insured or not insured at all. All this makes insurance sector most sought after career option by youth. He further encouraged the students to be self- motivating leaders and develop decision making powers to make a mark in the insurance sector. He even shared some important management policies and strategies of Bajaj Allianz with the upcoming insurers.
Extolling the importance of Insurance Sector, Dr. Gurinder Singh- Pro- Vice Chancellor, Amity University said that Insurance Sector is very important for Indian economy. It adds value to the society, tells how indispensable insurance is for our existence and brings smiles on the faces. Outlining the importance of relationship in a business, he said that a good relationship is the base of every successful organization or business. It is the relationship building which one must strive to attain initially and gradually the money will pour in. He further called upon students to develop a clear vision, be humble, take their respective programmes seriously and unlearn their inhibitions to learn anew.
Shri R. R. Grover- Director, ASIAS gave a brief overview of ASIAS and the different management programmes it is offering. Talking about the quantum leaps recently achieved by ASIAS he revealed that Amity School of Insurance & Actuarial Science is the only institute in India to get recognition from Insurance Institute of India for exemption in Associate Examinations. ASIAS has also tied-up with 3i Infotech Ltd., a leading software products company to set up PREMIA School of Excellence. Through this collaboration, ASIAS and 3i Infotech aim to establish a strong Industry-Institute interaction by forging long term partnership in Institutional Development, R&D, Training and other projects for the students of Amity. The association aims to integrate mainstream curriculum of the university with skills required by the industry at large
On the occasion, Dr. Gurinder Singh and Shri R. R. Grover- Director, ASIAS honored Mr. Sam Ghosh with Amity Leadership Award for his remarkable contribution and sterling achievements in the insurance sector.
The function also marked the recognition of outstanding students of ASIAS with KMG Award of Rs. 25, 000/- to Ms. Shubra Didi – MBA (2004 – 06) and Ms. Mansi Bhambani- PGDIM (2005- 06), Tata AIG Award comprising Rs. 15,000 cash, a certificate and a rolling shield to Ms. Hebe Yecho- MBA (2004- 06) and Max New York Life Award comprising Rs. 5, 000 cash, a certificate and a rolling shield to Ms. Mauli Sharma – PGDIM (2005- 06)
