Students of new batch of Amity School of Communication (ASCO) step forward to learn unexplored areas of journalism

Amity School of Communication (ASCO) organized the Orientation Programme for students joining BJMC (Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication), MJMC (Masters of Journalism and Mass Communication ), MAMM ( Masters of Advertisement and Marketing Management) and PGDEMPR ( Post Graduate Diploma in Event Management and Public Relations).

Dr. Chandan Mitra- M.P, Rajya Sabha and Editor-in-Chief, The Pioneer Newspaper blessed the new entrants with his profound thoughts. He congratulated the students for making the right choice of joining Amity School of Communication. Extending the shorthand mantras of excelling in the media industry and defining the term “MEDIA” he outlined maturity, ethics, drive to surge ahead, integrity and analytical skills as the pre- requisites of becoming a good media professional. He suggested students that a journalist should be honest, knowledgeable and good communicator to make an impact on the readers who are bombarded with information from all corners. He further advised the students to read atleast one newspaper daily from cover to cover and watch a half an hour full news bulletin to keep them well informed so that a thorough research work is already done while they do a story during their career. He stressed that by year 2050, countries will be ranked on the basis of knowledge power unlike 21st century when countries are adjudged by their military mind or economic power.

Welcoming the freshers, Dr. Ashok Kumar Chauhan- Founder President, Amity University said that the exponential growth that the media industry, particularly electronic and satellite communication witnessed during the recent years in India has changed the Journalism and Advertising scenario in the country as never before. It has become very powerful. Media can ruin a business or establish it. Listing the hallmarks of media professionals he said, “Intuition, instinct, creativity and fearlessness are the characteristics that essentially define a media professional”

Col. R.K Dargan- Director, Amity School of Communication (ASCO) introduced the Program by enlightening the new entrants with the glorious past of ASCO. “In this era of cut throat competition, one has to be better than the best to make a mark. ASCO provides a firm grounding to the budding journalists to take life head on. A fine blend of theoretical education with practical knowledge keeps the students abreast with the contemporary scenario in the media industry. It is a continuous endeavor at ASCO to prepare the talent that will shape the future in the world of journalism, advertising and public relations.” commented Col. Dargan. He wished students a happy tenure while embarking upon the opportunity of joining Amity.
