Amity School of Communication, a part of Amity University Madhya Pradesh organized a Mock Press Conference Competition on 27 Sept 2016, with the objective of helping students showcase their research, innovation and communicative skills.
During the Mock Press Conference, the students attempted to exhibit their oratory skills over trending topics like The Kashmir Dispute, GST Bill, Surrogacy Regulation Bill, Controversy in Cinema and Rio Olympics vs. Paralympics. The participants advocated tough resolve of the army towards the Kashmir issue and also claimed that Controversies were merely a Promotional Tool for the Film Industry. In addition, the flaws of the Surrogacy Bill were discussed along with the Sportsman Spirit which is a crucial for not only the Olympians but for all sportsmen.
Speaking on the occasion Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Amity University Madhya Pradesh Lieutenant General V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd) remarked that events like these develop the student's reasoning, communicative and research abilities. He also noted that Amity University lays emphasis on objective and quality education which provides the students with a holistic perspective towards current affairs.
Towards the end of the conference the contestants answered all the questions raised by the audience. Following the questionnaire round, the jury members Colonel Atul Bhatnagar, Mr Ajosh P. Thomas and Dr Zeba Siddiqui announced the winners. Shruti Bhatnagar stood first and Ruchita Yadav and Niharika Bhowmik secured the second and third positions respectively. The winners were awarded certificates and trophies by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd), Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) M P Kaushik and Dean ASCO Prof. (Dr.) Sachin Batra. The programme was organized by Dr. Sumit Narula, Mr Sandesh Mahajan, Mr Anshul Jain and executed by ASCO students’ team. The vote of thanks was proposed by faculty coordinator Mr Nihaz Anvar.
