Amity Instituteof Travel & Tourism, Kolkata and Amity School of Hospitality, Kolkataorganized the first ever commemoration of World Tourism Day at Amity UniversityKolkata on the 27th of September, 2016 upon the theme "Tourism forAll: Promoting Universal Accessibility" . The day started offwith ceremonially welcoming the freshers of both AITT, Kolkata and ASH, Kolkataby respected Vice Chancellor Sir, Dr. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, respectedRegistrar Sir Wing Commander D.K. Banerji , respected Advisor Sir Dr.Madhusudan Chakraborty, respected AVP Sir Shri Vipin Sharma, all HOIs andthereafter an exciting Intra-University Tourism Quiz Competition was hosted byProf. Ajoy Bhakat, HOD - AITT and ASH and Prof. Vandita Hajra.
The highlights of the second half of the day were inaugurationwith cake cutting, a spectacular dance-music-drama presentation and ramp showby students under the direction of Prof. Madhumita Mukherjee, Prof. Baniratna,Prof. Sudipta Mukherjee and the felicitation of esteemed industry guests- Mr. Manoj Saraf - Managing Director of Gainwell Travels and Mr. KrisanuGangopadhyay, Regional Manager (East) Akbar Travels of India.
The celebrations also witnessed a unique competition "TravelMemories Unplugged" organized especially for the faculty members andsupporting staff of Amity University Kolkata and poster/collage/photographycontest for all the students of Amity University Kolkata. The celebrationsconcluded with the Prize Distribution ceremony and the winners of the day wereAbhirup Choudhury, B.Tech CSE 3rd Semester & Subham Shome, B.Tech ECE 3rdSemester in the Intra University Tourism Quiz ; Debopriya Mukherjee B.A. LLB(H) 3rd Semester in the Intra University Photography Contest ; Priyanka Sharma,MJMC 3rd Semester in the Intra University Poster Competition; MadhupriyaGhosh B.A.T.A. 1st Semester in the Intra University Collage Competition.
