Amity International School, Noida celebrated Founder’s Day in honour of the birthday of the Founder President, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, the educationist, philanthropist, visionary and our mentor and guide. Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools graced the occasion.
During the traditional welcome, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan lit the ceremonial lamp to invoke the blessing of the Almighty, while an invocation prayer “Astoma Jyotirgamaya” lent auspiciousness to the occasion. A song by the School Choir, “Mangal Ho, Mangal Mein Jeevan” expressed birthday felicitations in true Amitan style—with pride, respect and unconditional love for our great Dr. Chauhan. Meanwhile, “Desert Melody,” presented by the Percussion Orchestra held the audience spellbound.
In her Welcome Address, Principal, Mrs. Mohina Dar wished Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan a long and healthy life and hailed him for bringing about a total revolution in the field of private education, especially in building the Amity Universe in such a short time span.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson called upon her students to look upon their Founder President as their role model, urging them to have a mission and vision in their life that would drive them to achieve the impossible, especially in the interest of India and the society as a whole.
A panel discussion by the students explored several issues, including one titled, “The role of Amity in the emerging field of meaningful education.” After credibly stating their opinions, the students posed several questions to Dr. Chauhan, some of which included—his views on the globalisation of education, the motive behind educating the girl child (Amitaasha) and any new / innovative strategies that were in the pipe-line to promote E-Learning.
Expressing his delight on the solidarity and respect shown by his Amitians on his birthday, Dr. Chauhan reiterated, “My students are my most precious resource and I strongly believe that each one of you will become global citizens who will contribute immensely to India’s national growth and development. Since Amity nurtures talent, the strong foundation that you have been provided with will make you not only knowledgeable, competitive, techno-savvy, but also tolerant, caring and open-minded.”
Scholarships and prizes for academic excellence (Subject Toppers and Class Toppers) were also awarded on the occasion of Founder’s Day. Other prizes in National level competitions such as Robotics, Dramatics, NTSE, Art, Debate and Quiz were also awarded.
The event ended with a clear message—that a strong belief in the self and the knowledge that children are the bridge of tomorrow would surely, “let the spirit of Amity prevail” forever.
