A one day “Farmers Fair -Organic” at Nagli Shekhpur,Noida Phase-2,G B Nagar UP was organized by the Amity Institute of Organic Agriculture, Amity University, Noida under the sponsorship of National Centre of Organic Farming, Ministry of Agriculture, GOI, Ghaziabad. Demonstration on rice grown under organic practices vis-à-vis the farmers practice was given to the farmers. The fair was inaugurated by Sh. Dhurendra Singh, Deputy Director, Agriculture Extension, Gautam Budh Nagar, Noida.
The project is being coordinated by Dr. P. K. Gupta, Senior Lecturer, Amity Institute of Organic Agriculture, under the guidance of Director General, Sh K.S Bains and Deputy Director, Dr J N Kaul. The demonstration on organic rice was conducted on the farm of Sh Sant Ram of village Nangli. The field was fertilized with various biofertilzers (2 kg Multiplex Aadhar (Azotobacter), 1kg Multiplex Durga ( PSB), 1 kg Multiplex Varsha (Verticilium), 1 Kg Micorhizza and Azola, 250g Multiplex Jeevras) mixed with 200 kg of FYM two days before sowing. Further, 5 kg each of Multiplex Fertisulf and Navjeevan was applied to the crop 30 days after sowing.
Biopesticides as multineem (1 litre), multiplex Nirjana (750ml) and Sparsha (750gm) along with cow urine were also applied to protect the crop from pest and diseases. The main objective of the fair was to create awareness among the farming communities on the potentials of raising crops through organic approaches, visualizing the effect through “seeing is believing.”
A lot of enthusiasm and interest was seen amongst the participating farmers being convinced about the approach and its dire needs towards a sustainable agriculture.
