Amity International School, Noida organised GEOMATY 2007 at Amity Campus, Sector-44 Noida. Geomaty 2007 is the first ever inter-school Geography competition and the event saw a participation of over 240 students from 26 prestigious schools from Delhi and NCR
This innovative competition comprised of Geography quiz, map reading, marking and identification on topics, such as various aspects of soil erosion, mountain activity building, disaster resistant construction, managing land pollution, predicting Indian monsoons and tectonic activity etc. Mind boggling questions from the allied subjects of Astronomy, Geomorphology, Climatology and Hydrology tickled the grey cells in the form of general awareness, crossword puzzles and jumbled words. Working models and PowerPoint presentations added originality, colour and technological expertise to the variegated subject matter that was presented.
Some of the prominent judges adjudging the competition included Dr. Sudhanshu Singha -Project Officer, Indian Canadian Environment Facility, Canadian High Commission and Mr. NK Chaudhary- eminent writer and an Economist. The Rolling Trophy was awarded to DPS, RK Puram with a score of 614/1000.
Group A comprised of the students between the age group of 8- 12 years in which Saint Mary’s School, New Delhi bagged the first prize, DPS- R.K Puram and Army Public School, Noida lifted the second and third prize respectively.
Group B comprised of the students between the age group of 13- 15 years in which DPS, Ghaziabad won the first prize; Apeejay, Noida second and DPS, R.K. Puram third.
