Orientation prepares the budding managers to be aware and develop a deeper insight of the changes in the business environment.The orientation session at Amity Global Business School, Chennai was conducted over three days commencing from the 29 August to the 31 August, 2017 was both captivating and enriching.
Day 1: Corporate Connect and Role-plays
The first day commenced with an auspicious beginning a prayer song invoking the blessings of the lord Shri Vinayaka. The opening address was delivered by Dr. E.Ilamathian, Director, AGBS-Chennai this was to Shri Subhash Jagota as the Chief Guest of the event. Dr. E. Ilamathian also welcomed the respected parents of the students who have sought admission at AGBS campus along with their respective sons and daughters. Further on Dr. Ilamathain spoke that the orientation program aims to be the decisive step which prepares an individual embarking on the journey of life in general and the chosen field of specialization in particular.
Prof. Srikant Kapoor eloquently introduced the Amity Universe to the august gathering, embarking on the quantum growth and stellar progress achieved by the Amity Educational Group both in India and Overseas. Singularly remarkable in the Private University sphere! Dr.Vengadamani, Deputy Director introduced the Chief Guest, Shri Subhash Jagota (AnXLRI alumini) and author of several books on management endowed with rich corporate experience of over three decades in leading Corporate Houses-Punj Lloyd, Dabur and others to the enthusiastic budding management professionals.
Interaction with Major Vinod John, Director Academics Global Business School HQ, Noida. Major Vinod John addressed the students on the second day of the orientation. He quoted “Students are the souls of Amity”, this aptly emphasizes the wonderful connect of Amity educational institutions and its student fraternity.
Alumni Interaction: The uniqueness of the management program at Amity lies in its mufti-faceted approach to problem solving in one’s endeavor to achieving an objective, this being an essential prerequisite in corporate world marked by hyper-competition and constant change.Three AGBS alumni members, Jonny, MBA(2012-14)- business entrepreneur, MC Harani,MBA (2013-15)-Standard Charted Bank and Akansha Goyal, MBA (2015-17)- Mahindra finance addressed the young minds-MBA and BBA first year students. Their journey so far has been a voyage of self-discovery and a platform for self-development for both the founders. The session was interactive and thought provoking to the young minds who were excited with the corporate prospects.
The final day started with the havan - one of the ten positive virtues or niyam that is prescribed for the devotee whose aspiration is to draw closer to the Divine with prayers and vedic chant evoking the blessing of lord Ganesha considered to be the lord of letters, learning and the superior power in overcoming hindrances and obstacles, Goddess Saraswati the supereme goddess of knowledge, music, arts, wisdom, and learning and Lord Vishnu,the Preserver,the supereme lord of peace and truth. Seeking blessings from our Honorable Founder President Sir, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Respected President Sir, Dr. Atul Chauhan and beloved Sr. Vice President Sir, Shri. U Ramchandran, the Dy. Director AGBS Chennai Dr. Vengadamani extended a warm and cordial welcome to new students to joining Amity family.
The young Amitians were blessed by the devoted priest performing the puja ceremony. Dr. Vengadamani, Deputy Director-AGBS,Chennai. briefed the would be student managers on SAP- thevarious opportunities in the semester abroad program at Amity International Campuses, SIP- summer internship program and Dissertation offered by the AGBS campus. The Ice-breaking session “Together we bond-AGBS Family” was creatively organized by Dr. Venkatesh, Prof. Raja and Prof. Radhika. The session enabled the recognition and recall of student names amongst fellow colleagues.
Thus the orientation sessions not only kindled the interest of students but have also motivated them to learn the art and science of management that can then be applied in the real corporate world.
