Amity School of Engineering & Technology, Amity University Madhya Pradesh organized a National Workshop on Cyber Security (CS) on 12 Aug 2017.
This workshop was organized with the objective of creating awareness amongst students and faculties about CS, particularly the role of CS to tackle global challenges from the perspectives of new technological developments in the field of Computer Science & Engineering.
As we are transiting into and embracing new paradigms such as Internet of Things, Smart Cities, Make in India etc., it is inevitable that Information technology will play a pivotal role in providing scalability to these new paradigms, as also in transforming India into a knowledge–led economy and society. Consequently, the potential of these technologies in digital empowerment of citizens and job creation is, of course, immense.

Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, AUMP Lt Gen V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd.) delivering his opening remarks enlightened the participants with the importance of Cyber Security. He explained the importance of Internet in daily life and its drawbacks and various thrust areas which are of great importance in research in the field of Cyber security.
Mr. Nikhalesh Singh Bhadoria, CEH, ECSA, LPT was the Key Note speaker of the Workshop.He delivered the Keynote address on “Research and Challenges in the Field of Cyber Security”. In his talk Mr. Nikhalesh Singh Bhadoria spoke of the challenges in the field of Cyber Security and threats of cyber crime in society.
The second session of the workshop was chaired by Ms. Divya Gautam, AUMP, Gwalior. Ms Divya Gautam, in her talk said that along with the rapid growth in tools and technologies, the functionality of the web application is also becoming advanced. This advancement may also introduce vulnerabilities due to the adhoc nature of cyber security. One of the common causes of application vulnerabilityis the poor style of writing code. The enhancement in the web application and ease of use is the primary concern of the application developers. The securityis the second concern for the application developers.

The one day workshop ended with certificate distribution. The Director ASET, in his concluding remark, appreciated the efforts put in by the faculty of CSE and also thanked the keynote speaker for sparing his valuable time. Also, he anticipated that, in future more such events may be organised to encourage our students. He felt such things would enhance the employ ability among students.The event ended with vote of thanks given by Mrs. Divya Gautam to participants and to the keynote speaker.
