Hepatitis is a global health problem and is amongst the ten most dreaded killers in the world. There are 350 million Hepatitis B positive people worldwide and one million die every year from Hepatitis B infection. There is a need to spread more awareness amongst laymen and health care workers about the disease and its prevention.
To achieve this goal, G. B Pant Hospital and Department of Family Welfare organized a series of events disseminating the information about Hepatitis B at India International Centre. The cause was wholeheartedly supported by Amity Universe and Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Universe.
The programme was inaugurated by Sh. Tejendar Khanna- Hon’ble Lt. Governor, GNCT ; Dr. Yogananda Shastri- Hon’ble Health Minister, GNCT; Dr. N. K Ganguly- Former Secy, Medical Education- Government of India; Dr. S. S. Trivedi- Director, Obstetrics and Gynae, LHMC and Mr. Vivek Rae- Principal Secretary, Health, GNCT.
Distinguished guests and speakers of the day included Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Universe; Sh. Navjot Singh Sidhu- former criketer; Ms. Rani Jethmalani- social activist and Swami Agnivesh.
Distinguished guests, teachers and students took a pledge to be a volunteer for this cause throughout their life and try to make India Hepatitis free.
The day long event included declamation contest for school teachers and students, quiz for health care workers, Slogan Writing, Poster Competition, Street Play and Nukkad Nataks.
Dr. Ashok K Chauhan and Ms. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity Arts Foundation felicitated the winners of different events.
Amity International School, Pushp Vihar actively participated and bagged several prizes in Poster Making, Slogan Writing and Street Play.
