Fitness Fiesta 2007, Sports Day organised at Amity International School Noida

On 15th December 2007, Amity International School, Noida held Fitness Fiesta 2007, the annual sports bonanza with great fanfare and soaring spirits. Gracing the occasion, the Chief Guest, H.E. Mr. Kieran Dowling, Ambassador, Embassy of Ireland declared the Sports Meet open. The Guest of Honour was Shri Jyoti Kalash, (IAS), Private Secretay, Office of the Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India. Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation and Dr. Mrs. Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools, Mr. Anand Chauhan, Trustee, Ritnand Balved Eudcation Foundation were present to bless the students.

In her welcome address, the Principal, Mrs. Mohina Dar highlighted the importance of sports and physical fitness that aided in laying a firm foundation for the all round growth and development of the Amitians.

The breathtaking gala event was declared open with the hoisting of the Amity flag, lighting of the torch, oath taking ceremony all filling the azure sky that was resplendent with colourful balloons and white pigeons, the harbingers of peace. The programme kick-started with the drill by Class VI, titled 'Sunbeams". This was followed by track events that saw the best athlete win laurels. Next came, 'Fun Frolic and Fitness', the drill by Class VII that was much applauded by the audience. The Style in Strength segment presented a host of exciting events like the Flag Formation, Rhythmic Callisthenics, the Charlie Chaplin Drill, Skating-Karate-Gymnastics display, the Horse Show and a host of other cultural items, all showcasing the enthralling 'Satrangi Umang'--a folk dance that highlighted the message of unity in diversity. Parents remained very busy, clicking their cameras and appreciating the display.

Many meritorious students were felicitated and awarded for their outstanding performance in the following fields of: academics, fine arts, sports, co-curricular activities and for upholding our Indian heritage and values. The Trophy for the best Marching Contingent and Overall Performance was bagged by Bhagirathi House, followed closely by Alaknanda House.

Chief Guest, H.E. Mr. Kieran Dowling and Shri Jyoti Kalash, (IAS) both appreciated the efforts of the School for organizing a spectacular event on such a mammoth scale.

The Spirit of Amity was exemplified by the captivating, 'Figure Marching' by the students of Classes VII--IX in the Grand Finale titled--'A Tribute to India', reflecting the Vision of our dear Founder President, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan who continuously aims at making a Amity a global movement as he dreams of India becoming a super power by the year 2030.

The Chairperson, Dr. Amita Chauhan blessed the students and teachers, congratulating them for putting up such an impressive show in her vote of thanks. Thus, the curtains come down on this Sports Meet with the School Song and the National Anthem.
