Amity Insurance Cricket Cup 2007 in aid of ‘Amitasha’ inaugurated

With the opening up of the insurance sector, Amity School of Insurance and Actuarial Science was set up in the year 2000 to provide qualified and trained manpower to the new entrants. The institution was founded under the visionary leadership of Dr.Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation.

Shri Vivek Razdan, former international cricketer, Mr. Sameer Bahadur, Zonal Head, Star Health and Allied Insurance inaugurated the 6th tournament at Amity Grounds, Sec-125, Noida

Shri Vivek Razdan advised the players to imbibe their sporting spirit rather than winning in their game. He said, “a player has no religion or caste the only religion the player belongs to is religion of sportsmanship”. He added that one should follow 5D’s in life – desire, dedication, determination, devotion and discipline.

CEOs of Tata AIG General and Aviva Life are on Amity’s Governing Board and most of the regional heads of the companies are on Advisory Council to guide. Seven of the CEOs of the insurance companies have personally visited Amity campus on important events. To bring the insurance companies on a common platform and to create a sense of camaraderie, Amity floated Amity Insurance Cricket Cup and organized 6th tournament with the participation of twelve companies from the private.

Mr. Sameer Bahadur, Zonal Head, Star Health and Allied Insurance said that Cricket is like life. Everybody wants to remove the successful person from the field. If we have problems in life then we should think of batsman. He faces bombardment of balls & survives. Cricket is by chance, so the Life.”

The Cup was dedicated to support the Foundation’s NGO arm, “AMITASHA”, working for the education and up-liftment of ‘girl child’ belonging to the disadvantaged sections of the society. This movement of the foundation and up-liftment of the girl child has now taken firm roots with additional centers at Noida and Saket. Similar centers are being planned at Lucknow, Jaipur, Raipur and Bhubaneshwar. This will indeed give a fillip to this noble cause.

The games are restricted to Saturdays and Sundays. The collection of the registration fee will be handed over to Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amitasha. The Knock over matches will be played next Saturday and Sunday to finalize the team for semifinal. The participation fee will be donated to “Amitasha”, the NGO arm of the Amity Foundation.
