The Amity School of Communication (Amity University Rajasthan, Jaipur) conducted a two-day hands-on workshop on “Latest Trends, Tools and Techniques in Television Journalism”from 20-21st March 2018. The first day workshop was focused on various topics including on the practical nuances of journalism, script writing & content packaging and maintain journalistic profiles on social media. Dr. Tabeenah Anjum, Bureau Chief- Deccan Herald conducted the session on the first day. The students were assigned to shoot and package short news stories within the university campus. The content developed by students was also reviewed by the resource person. The day ended with a field-based assignment to be submitted on the second day. The focus of Day 2 of the workshop was the technical aspects of television journalism including camera handling, video editing and news anchoring. Mr. Dinesh Kumawat, Senior Video Journalist of News 24 started the session with a brief lecture on the Role, Responsibilities and Challenges of Video Journalist. He also critically analyzed the videos prepared by the students. The workshop ended with a 3 hours long session on facing the camera and anchoring for the news conducted in the television studio of Amity School of Communication. The workshop benefited participants in various manner. While they learnt practical inputs from the people working in the field; they also received feedback on the work developed by them during the workshop and tips on how to improve the technical and editorial skills.
