Morethan 170 Students from International Schools from 11 countries along with 19Indian students have come together to participate in “7th Amity InternationalOlympiad for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology” organized by AmityInstitute of Competitive Examinations (AICE) at Amity University Campus,Sector- 125, Noida from May 21 to May 27, 2018.
74students from Afghanistan, 20 from Kyrgyzstan, 3 from Kazakhstan, 5 fromIndonesia, 26 from Tajikistan, 14 from Bangladesh, 2 from Sri Lanka, 1 fromRussia, 20 from Turkmenistan and 2 from Turkey are participating in this year’sOlympiad.
DrMrs. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson of Amity International Schools,declared the Olympiad open. She gave a very warm welcome to all the studentsparticipating in the Olympiad.
Addressingthe gathering, Dr Chauhan said that she is very happy to see students from allover the world coming and participating in the competition. She said thatstudents from different parts of the country participate in this Olympiad andevery year we see an increase in the number of participating nations. Amityencourages participation of students in healthy competitions between differentcountries as they further help in strengthening ties and such competitions arealso a medium to understand each other’s culture. She also emphasized on thefact that in order to win any competition or situation in life one needs towork hard and be motivated until the target is achieved. Extending her bestwishes to the participants, she further added that there might be only onewinner in the competition, but every student will benefit from the learningsduring the course of the Olympiad.
MsMeenakshi Rawal, Director, AICE, shared the briefabout the competition along with rules and regulations to be followed. She alsoextended a warm welcome to all the students who came from across the globe toparticipate in the Olympiad.
Thestudents from different nations are all set to put their best foot forward inthe test and are eager to showcase their talent. A 10th gradestudent, Sajid (Afghanistan) and said that he is excited to be a part ofthe chemistry Olympiad. Serder, an 11th standard student fromTurkmenistan said that they are looking forward to the test as their schoolseniors from last year who participated in the competition said that the AmityOlympiad is a good platform to test their understanding of chemistry andbiology concepts.
Duringthe week long Olympiad, students will be trained under the able guidance andleadership of renowned faculty members and subject experts. During the firstday, the students will take “Theory Exam” of respective Olympiads, followed by“Experiments” on the next day and the highest scorer will be declared as thewinner of the Olympiad.
AtAmity, we believe not just in honing competitive skills but also instrengthening cultural skills and therefore the students will also be taken fora trip to the famous ‘Taj Mahal’. They will also be taken for ‘Delhi Darshan’where the students will take a tour of the National Capital and get a glimpseof the rich Indian architecture and culture.
Duringthe week, AICE will also organize a national level mathematics workshop.About 250 students from different schools of India including Maxfort PublicSchool Dwarka, DPS R.K. Puram, DPS Vasant Kunj, BBL Public School Bareily, St.Marry Christian School Ghaziabad, Presidium Indirapuram, and AmityInternational Schools Delhi-NCR will participate in the workshop.
AmityInternational Olympiad is conducted with the mission to foster strongerrelationships amongst participating nations and to promote exchange ofscientific skills and knowledge amongst the youth and creative minds across theworld. It brings together students with love for Science and Mathematics andignites scientific temperament among them. Participation in thisinternationally recognized and highest level of examination is considered agreat achievement in itself.
