Amity University Jharkhand, 01/05/2018: The expert talk on Cyber Crime and Security by Ms. Mini Rani Sharma was conducted today by Amity University Jharkhand. The trainer was a person with a rich and varied experience of more than 16 years ranging from various corporate to govt. profiles. Ms. Mini Rani Sharma is currently posted as the Jharkhand State Project Manager, RDD (Panchayat Raj), Govt. of Jharkhand. She earlier worked as the Chief Technical Officer, Jharkhand Police (Govt. of Jharkhand).
The session started off by the expert captivating the audience by talking about how traditional crime used to take place earlier and how the modern times are witnessing more of cyber crime. The speaker after introducing the students to the basic aspects of cyber crime, narrated some interesting cyber crime related cases that were reported recently. She talked on how 13 lakhs has been siphoned off from a very well placed PSU Employee in Ranchi as well as how a college drop out created a fake banking app to commit cyber crimes.
The expert also took the students (MCA-IV, MBA-IV, B.TECH-CSE-IV & B.TECH-ECE-IV) through a journey of various other cyber crimes that were popular and can be considered as benchmarks that provide inputs on how to handle such cases. The expert speaker also presented before the students the nuances of email tracing, finding the IP Address and location of a system and checking on the authenticity of an App or website.
The session was finally concluded by making the students aware of the employment scope and opportunities in the field of cyber security. The Honorable Vice chancellor of Amity University Jharkhand Prof. (Dr.) Raman Kr. Jha also addressed the audience and provided inputs on the basic measures that need to be adopted by each and everyone for tackling cyber crime. Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar Amity University Jharkhand along with other Departmental Heads & Faculty Members were also present during the event.
