“Vasudha”, the annual science exhibition begins in Amity International Schools

Amity International Schools begin their annual science exhibition “Vasudha 2008-09” themed "OUR EARTH EXPLORE, SHARE AND CARE" to promote and nurture the scientific temperament amongst the students. The exhibition spanning fifteen days will be held consecutively in all the Amity International Schools including Noida, East Delhi, Pushp Vihar, Gurgaon for two days each. “Vasudha” would conclude on August 01, 2008 with an exhibition at Amity International School, East Delhi.

Chief Guest, Dr. Ashwini Kumar Bohra, Ministry of Earth Sciences expressed his immense delight at the innovative display that incorporated topics such as: Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting, E-Waste Management, Algae Bioreactors, Green Buildings, The Heart of the Matter, Geothermal Energy, Home Vermi Composting, Water Purification by Bioremediation, Wasteland Management, Melting of the Ice Cap, Organic Farming, amongst others.

Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools expressed how proud she is of the achievements of Amitians and stated that, Vasudha is a platform to help each child develop scientific temperament and I guarantee that Amity will produce many Nobel Laureates in the near future. She also extended her profound gratitude to Mr. Uzzwal Madhab- Adviser, Science Communications for making the challenge of Vasudha possible.

Talking about the aim of the exhibition, Mrs. Mohina Dar – Principal, Amity International School, Noida said that “Vasudha” endeavors to provide a forum to the youngsters to pursue their natural curiosity through creative and scientific temper by giving them numerous opportunities to observe, collect data, experiment, analyze, present their findings after thorough research, especially to improve the quality of human life and foster ecological awareness.

During the valediction, prizes were conferred upon the deserving winners for their ingenuity and originality.

This year Vasudha is planned on a mammoth scale. Food, Hygiene and Pollution, Simple Living v/s Modern Living, Earth, Climate and Health, Mega Cities and Hazards are some of the exhilarating sub topics assigned to the children. The prominent jury members hail from Vigyan Prasar, Amity Institute of Telecom technology and Management (AITTM), Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASES), Amity Institute of Global Warming & Research (AIGWR), Amity Institute of Nano Technology and Amity Institute of Biotechnology.
