Amity International Schools known for their holistic approach towards the development of students are continuously adding to a brigade of well-prepared youth taking on the challenges of life ahead, be it in the area of education, sports or entertainment. Continuing with this endeavor, Amity International Schools as an academic partner to WorldKids Foundation presents Delhi’s first ever, week-long “WorldKids International Film Festival” for children from July 25 to 31, 2008.
The festival was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Smt. Shiela Dixit, Additional President, RBEF and Chancellor Amity University, Rajasthan Mr Aseem Chauhan, Director of Film Taare Jameen Par, Mr. Amole Gupte and Festival Director, Ms. Manju Singh by lighting of lamp amidst chanting of Holy Saraswati Vandana by students of Amity International School, Pushp Vihar.
Speaking on the occasion Hon’ble Chief Minister, Smt. Shiela Dixit said that it is a matter of great pride that a festival dedicated to children is being organized. Hon’ble Chief Minister was presented with a citation from Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Additional President, RBEF and Vice Chancellor Amity University, Rajasthan. Creative Director of Film Taare Jameen Par, Mr. Amole Gupte was awarded with “Contribution to entertainment with a purpose” award by Hon’ble Chief Minister.
Morning of the first day of the World Kids International Film festival was very different. Thousands of students of Amity International School East Delhi and Noida walking smartly with festival badges in their neck dispersed in different auditoriums according to the pre-decided age brackets. As soon as the films start beaming in all the auditoriums, the joyous students became silent to view the films. Afternoon session witnessed the participation of thousands of students from Amity International School Pushp Vihar and Saket.
WorldKids International Film Festival, dedicated to the spread of “Entertainment with a purpose’ aims to provide value based entertainment, simultaneously promoting an understanding of other cultures and traditions among children. Catering to all age groups, the festival shall showcase International and National award winning animations, documentaries, short feature films including “Red like the sky- Italy” ,“Hayat- Iran”, “Heda Hoda- India” and “Magnifico- Phillipines” including many others.
