Amity Global Business School celebrated National Productivity Day on the theme of “Productivity and Leadership” at Bhubaneswar Campus on 13th February, 2009 in collaboration with National Productivity Council, Govt. of India. Dr. Sahadev Sahu, Ex. Chief Secretary, Govt. of Orissa and Ex. Vice Chancellor, Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar chaired the event. Mr. C. P. Pujari, a renowned management consultant, National Productivity Council delivered an inspiring key note speech on the theme of “Productivity and Leadership”. He emphasized the crucial need of the present time for every organization irrespective of their sizes and structures to embrace the concept, tools and techniques of productivity management to ensure efficiency of utilization of their resources and core strengths for growth and stability. The role and significance of productivity management has gained prominence in the context of increasing complexity and cost and quality based competition in to-day’s business environment. Higher productivity in organizations leads to national prosperity and better standard of living for the whole community. Improving productivity means striving for excellence in every sphere of individual, community and work life, he said. Mr. Pujari advised the students to embrace the qualities of leadership for steering the productivity movement in their professional life by focusing on producing and delivering quality goods in a cost effective manner and by generating surplus to further improve productivity. Being the future managers of our country, students need to play a significant role in promoting the awareness among the people and the community about the importance of productivity movement for their overall socio-economic development.

Dr. Sahadev Sahu, the chairman of the event, placed greater emphasis on a balanced approach for adopting productivity management tools for the overall socio-economic development of the different segments of the population through optimum production, distribution of scares resources. Benefits of the productivity movement should rationally and equitably be shared by all segment of people in the society.
The event was highly educative, interactive and thought-provoking. Most of the students, faculty members of the institute and prominent experts of National Productivity Council actively participated in the deliberations and discussions on related issues on role of students and their leadership in the promotion of concept and tools of productivity management in every sphere of human activities. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks given by Dr. S. N. Padhi, the Faculty member of the institute.
students of Amity Global Business School were highly recognized and awarded special prizes and certificate of merit for their remarkable achievement in winning prizes in an Essay competition organized by National Productivity Council on 6th February 2009. The three best winner of the prizes were Ms. T. Reshma – MBA (1st Prize), Mr. Subrat Tripathy – MBA (RM) (2nd Prize) and Mr. Rahul Das Patanaik – MBA (RM) (3rd Prize) who received cash awards and certificates on a special State level event of National Productivity week held on 16th February 2009 at Hotel Marrion, Bhubaneswar.
