Prof. Anuradha Chenoy, Director, Centre of Russian & Central Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University delivered lecture on the topic “New Concepts of Security: Human Security” at Amity University Campus Sector-125 Noida. This was the 121st lecture under the Amity International Centre (AIC) Lecture Series.
In her lecture Prof. Chenoy discussed about the New concepts of security and how Human Security is maintained. Prof. Chenoy said that Security has different dimensions: Realist in which legitimate force is used after consent. Power is equated with military deterrance. Secondly it is Radical in which force with rights is a secondary instrument which is used primarily for cosmopolitan ends. Third is Feminist in which power is used for negotiation and gender justice. Human Security is maintained through law at all levels - International, civil, personal laws. It has cooperation between institutions of state and civil society.
