It was a scintillating and memorable experience for all those who were present at Delhi/ NCR based Amity University which played host to Red Bull Racing Driver, David Coulthard and brought the world of Formula One action closer to the city and its people. The event was organized by Amity F 1 Racing Club and Red Bull Racing.
Red Bull Racing Driver David Coulthard is the highest ever British grand prix points-scorer, a man with 247 races, 535 points and 62 podiums to his name.
Welcoming the star and extending his gratitude, Mr. Aseem Chauhan- Additional President, RBEF thanked Red Bull Racing Driver David Coulthard for spending time with Amity students and letting them know the nuances of F 1 Race and racing cars. Sharing his views on this new sport recently promoted in India and backed by the corporate, he motivated students to design more of the modern technology based F1 racing cars which are safer and fuel efficient. He further announced that Amity and Red Bull together would be launching F1 car design competition for the engineering students across the world and the two lucky winners will get a lifetime opportunity trip to Red Bull Racing Headquarters at Milton Keynes, UK.
Sharing his views with the students David Coulthard said that F1 is a technology business but technology does not bring success, its the people who ensure success. The man and the machine both are important in a race, they have to work in tandem. The driver influences the success. He averred that race cars involve high quality of engineering concepts and technology, which means a lot of potential for the engineering students. Talking about the denial of the Ministry of Sports in India to accept F1 as a sport he opined, “I very much think that it is a sport just like any other sports- golf or cricket in India, it is an amazing example of human endeavor. In India many intelligent people follow this sport and love to watch it”. He enriched the students with his variegated F1 race experiences.
Thousands of students from various institutions of Amity University participated in the high octane Go- Karting Contest. 6 students namely Mr. Kshitij Grover from Amity School of Business, Mr. Sachin Baranwal from Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Mr. Abhinav Badhwar from Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Ms. Kanan Jain- Amity Business School, Ms. Aakanksha Goel from Amity Business School and Ms. Pallavi Jasra- Amity Institute of Information Technology made it to the finals which was flagged by much sought after Red Bull Racing Driver David Coulthard. The lucky winners – Mr. Kshitij Grover completed the race in 36.72 seconds and Ms. Pallavi Jasra completed the race in 50.28 seconds and won Red Bull Racing Merchandise autographed by the star himself.
