Month long Sports Meet “ Sangathan 09” culminates with zest and zeal at Amity

Every year in Amity, Founder’s Day is celebrated in the form of a month long mega Sports Meet “Sangathan” in which the students from all Amity campuses located across India participate. This year also “Sangathan” was organized on a grand scale, comprising over 45 sporting events like Discuss Throw, Long Jump, Shot Put, Badminton, Basketball, Carom Board, Football, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Lawn Tennis, Shooting- Air Pistol, Squash, Swimming, Tabe Tennis etc. The valediction of the meet coincides with the birthday of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Universe, the man who has devoted his entire life for the benefit of humanity by alleviating the standards of education in the country.

This year “ Sangathan” saw humungous participation of over 15,000 students who fiercely competed with each other to clinch the medals and trophies.

Sangathan 2009 championship trophy was bagged by Amity Business School, Noida with 15 gold medals 10 silver medals and 8 bronze medals

The valediction was graced by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan-Chairperson, Amity International Schools, Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Aseem Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan, Maj. Gen K J Singh- Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Johan Lindgren- CFO, TELENOR and his wife Mrs. Christina Lindren and Prof. Kapil Kumar-Chairman, Faculty of History, IGNOU

The ceremony commenced with an impressive March Past by 81 contingents from different schools, colleges and institutes of Amity followed by Lezium Display by the students of Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and Fencing Display, first time included, by the students of Amity Institute of Telecom and Technology Management. Amity Indian Military College (AIMC) was awarded for the Guard of Honor given during the march past, Amity Institute of Education, Noida won the first prize for being the best marching contingent in the Senior’s category and Amity International School, Noida won the first prize in the Junior’s Category.

Releasing the newsletter of “Sangathan 09”, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan remarked, “Amity students are different, they will contribute immensely to the nation building and will unite different nations together. Amity believes in nurturing talent. The sporting talent showcased by the students is exemplary.” He urged the students to aim high in life, make a plan and reach the height of success and show it to the entire world that Amitians are the best.

The teams from Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) and Amity Institute of Telecom and Technology Management (AITTM) locked horns in the finals of Tug of War and the team from Amity School of Engineering and Technology was successful in overpowering its counterpart.

Horse Riding Show by the horses of Amity Riding Academy enthralled the vast gathering.

The month long labor, hard work and practice of the participants were finally fructified when they were felicitated with gold and silver medals and trophies by the Founder President. Their faces were shinning with bright smiles and hearts were soaring high in the air. Amity Business School secured the First Position with 15 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 8 bronze medals, Amity School of Engineering and Technology secured the second position by bagging 12 gold medals, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals and Amity International Business School secured the Third Position with 12 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.

Students from all the Amity Campuses- Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhuwaneshwar, Kolkatta, Noida, Manesar and Delhi presented a perfect picture of team spirit, camaraderie, sportsmanship and unity and extended their heartfelt greetings to the Founder President, praying for his long life, heath and prosperity.
