Amity Institute of Telecom Technology & Management organizes a guest lecture on “Digital India” at Amity University

Amity Institute of Telecom Technology &Management organized a guest lecture on ‘Digital India’ by Lt. General AshokAgarwal, Country Head of Location Labs, US & Former President, Institute ofElectronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) at University Campus,Noida.

 

Addressing thegathering, Lt. General Ashok Agarwalsaid that Indian Telecom Revolution which started almost 30 years ago and bymid nineties Mobile Phones entered the telecom scene. He further added that byend of 1990, almost entire urban India was connected with mobile phone services.He apprised that at present time,mobile phones are not just handset but a tool of empowerment and through that aperson is able to access e-commerce, e-education, e-governance, e-health,entertainment and a myriad of other applications on their smart phones. Lt. GenAgarwal remarked that broadband is the heart around which the DigitalIndia plan revolves. He outlined as per ITU, more than 40 percentof the world’s populations are using internet and this number is growingexponentially. Sharing the report ofWorld Bank of year 2009, he highlighted that t in any low and middleincome group country like India, every 10% increase in Broadband penetrationcould result in 1.4 Percentage point of GDP growth. He emphasized on the fact that in order to extend benefits of governmentschemes, subsidiaries and governance; Broadband connectivityacross the length and breadth of the country will be the key enabler for ‘Digital India’. Lt Gen Agarwal also touched upon the dreamproject of Hon’ble Prime Minister for  having  100 smart cities for which Rs. 7060 croreshave been earmarked in the budget of 2015-16. He explained the basic requisitesof smart cities. Smart cities will have real time control system to providereal time inputs for better management of traffic, intelligent transportsystem, electricity, water and waste management to make hospitable livingconditions for its residents. Residents will also have access to e-governance,e-commerce, e-health ,e-education etc. .Telecom& IT will be the key enabler in realizing smart cities.

Amity University Madhya Pradesh organizes Seminar on Career Option after 12th

Most students normally choose their subjects for 12th grade, depending upon their career goal. But some remain in a dilemma as to 'Which Career to Choose after 12th’

While choosing a career after 12th, a student must consider various factors, most importantly his/her interest, ability to cope with the subject chosen, job opportunities and above all the necessary financial commitments.

Keeping this in mind “The Times of India” conducted a career guidance session at Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior on Saturday, 02nd April 2016. This Seminar aimed at giving an insight to the students on various career options available to them so that they could make a well-informed choice of programme after Class XII & before embarking on their career path. Approximately 400 students from various schools of Gwalior attended the event, which was conducted in the Auditorium of the University. Lt Gen V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd), the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of AUMP in his opening remarks said “In today’s competitive world, the senior school students need to critically analyze their strengths and weakness at an early stage. While conscious and deliberate effects should be made to overcome weakness, the strength must be leveraged in deciding to choose a suitable academic stream in Universities and Colleges, which will ultimately lead them to their dream careers”.

Also, speaking on the occasion Director CRC & Admissions Mr Rajat Pathak, showcased the various career opportunities and highlighted the methods of choosing the best career option for them.He discussed the gap between student expectation and the industry demand. According to him, “If you are adventurous you can take up journalism as a career option. With the increasing number of channels and newspaper in the market, the job has high demand. If you are in search of a creative job, you can go for Advertising, Performing Arts, Website Designing, Fashion Designing, Jewelry Designing or Aviation. If you have a flair for writing, you can also take up content writing as a career option.”

In an answer to the query related to becoming an IAS officer, by a aspirating student he said, “You can also prepare for the Indian Civil Service Examinations or State Civil Service Examinations for which you need to be a graduate.”

Mr. Pathak strongly recommended to choose only the best career option where their interest lay. “Don’t choose that career option where you are not interested. This is the most important step in your life” he said.

He further guided about the top 5 available colleges for different courses like BBA, B.COM, BAJMC, B  ARCH, Fashion Design  & B.TECH and their selection procedure.

An on-spot personality test based on the theories of Carl G. Jung's [Jung, 1971] was also conducted during the seminar. According to this test people can be characterized by their:

1. Preference of general attitude: Extraverted (E) vs. Introverted (I),

2. Preference of one of the two functions of perception:Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N),  

3. Preference of one of the two functions of judging: Thinking (T) Vs. Feeling (F)
