A two day " Blood Donation Camp" was successfully organised and conducted by AIB Undergraduate Youth Council (AIB- AUYC)with the support of Rotary Club and under the esteemed suveillance of Dr. Ajay Chauhan and Dr. A.K Srivastava- Director, AIB at Amity University,Sector- 125 Noida
The camp (October 09- 10,2007)witnessed a humungous response of 890 donorsand a total of 441 units of blood was collected, highest ever in any educational institute.
The camp, an annual event, was made a success by over 50 students of AIB Undergraduate Youth Council, co- ordinators with the " Social Committee at the forefront. They catered to the amenities of the donors and devoted themselves to the cause. The donors were also served with refreshments.
The donors were facilitated with 16 beds on the first day and 4 on the second. The efforts of AUYC students were complimented and appreciated by Mr. Sudharshan Agarwal – Governor, Uttarakhand,who sent a special message stating “Nothing is more ennobling and satisfying than to donate blood to save someone else life. Blood Donation creates a humane, compassionate and caring society which is a need of our times.”
Rotarian Mr. Ajay Chauhan- Trustee, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF), said “About 60% of the population is eligible to donate blood, however only a small fraction of less than 5% volunteer for this cause. The Rotary Club, since its inception, has formed a community service, of generous, strong and dexterous people bound by a single motive of selfless service. It has been regularly organizing blood donation camps in different schools and colleges to bridge the ever widening gap between demand and supply of blood.” He lauded the efforts of Amity students who have come forward to donate blood thereby creating awareness in their companions also.
The camp was concluded on a happy note with the most regarded and grateful visit of Dr. Ashok Kumar Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Universityrecognising the efforts of the students and promising an auspicious and a healthy association ahead
