Amity Law School, Lucknow organised one day seminar on "Criminal Justice Delivery System in India - Problems & Remedies" from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM at Viraj Khand Campus in Auditorium.

Honble Justice S.H.A Raza, Retd. High Court Judge and Ex Lok Ayukta, Uttrakhand, Honble Justice Y.R. Tripathi Retd. High Court Judge and Ex Principle Secretary (Law), U.P Govt inaugurated the event.

Chief Guest Honble Justice S.H.A Raza, Retd. High Court Judge and Ex Lok Ayukta, Uttrakhand mentioned that "Criminal justice delivery system is almost on the verge of collapse in India , thanks to an inefficient system of both the investigating agencies and the prosecution" It is a known fact that our police reach the spot of a crime very late and hence fail to gather evidence so important to prosecute the culprit at that very moment. Moreover it is corruption reining the supreme, he said and referred to recent Arushi murder case. "We all know evidences were destroyed before police reached the house of Arushi", Justice Raza pointed out while addressing the students.

Guest of Honour Honble Justice Y.R. Tripathi Retd. High Court Judge and Ex Principle Secretary (Law), U.P Govt. said while it is very common notion that "justice delayed is justice denied", equally important is "justice hurried is justice buried". He highlighted the importance of proper FIR and said without which the foundation of the case gets shattered. He referred to shortage of courts, the lack of infrastructure because of which the pendency in the cases had gone up manifold.

During first session Honble Justice S.N. Sahay,Retd. High Court Judge & Dr.R.K.Saxena Retd. Judge and Judicial member of CAT(Central Administrative Tribunal) also quoted various cases handled by them, giving details of proceedings and judgments.

In second session Honble Justice A.K Srivastava, Retd. High Court Judge Prof L.N. Mathur, Ex Head & Dean Faculty of Law , Lucknow University, Dr. S.S Srivastava, Head Law, J. N. Degree College ,Lucknow and Dr. Vijai Kumar , Reader in Law ,Jai Narian Degree College, Lucknow spoke regarding their experience of important cases which included the problems faced during investigation, prosecution and while delivering the decision of various cases.

During Valedictory Session Prof. B.B. Pande, Ex.Head and Dean Law, Delhi University spoke about his experiences in India and abroad about various criminal cases and concluded that for providing timely justice, the number of courts have to be increased, the advocates have to be tied down by not allowing adjournment of the dates of the hearing, provision of proper infrastructure and individual willingness to provided timely justice apart from honesty.
