Seminar on Solar Energy-Global Trends & Opportunities for India organised at Amity University

Keeping in view the burning recession and skyrocketing fuel prices, Amity Indo-German Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation together with Amity Institute of Renewable & Al1ernative Energy (AIRAE) organized a seminar on “ Solar Energy: Global Trends & Opportunities for India” at Amity University, Sector- 125, Noida. The seminar aimed at discussing ways to tap the unexplored potential of solar energy which ,at present, is in a nascent stage in India but is expected to full bloom by 2100 leaving much behind other sources of energy including hydro- electricity, geothermal, wind, nuclear power, gas and coal.

Delivering the key note address, the Chief Guest Mr. Dieter Manz- President and CEO, MANZ Automation AG, Germany outlined the reasons behind the growing interest in Photo Voltaics worldwide. He stressed that rising oil prices, climate change, declining markets in SEMI and FPD, limited availability of nuclear power and fossil energy and global awareness about the big threat of oil and gas dependency have forced the global community to turn towards Photo Voltaics which can directly chnage solar energy into electricity. He citied that in India over 56% of people don’t have electric power in their houses and solar power could bring a big transformation in the area of health, environment, transportation and development of rural areas.

Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group and President AIRAE conferred “Platinum Award” upon Mr. Dieter Manz- President and CEO, MANZ Automation AG, Germany for “Innovation in Technology”.

Recently, MANZ GROUP, Germany and TECHNICOM, India pioneers in the field of innovation and technology have jointly established MANZ AUTOMATION INDIA PVT. LTD to market German equipment for solar industry in India. The Indian subsidiary shall provide technical support, installation / startups, after sales service, spare parts and would explore the possibility of setting up a production base in India.
