Amity Institute of Telecom Technology & Management organized an HR Conclave on 11 September 2009, to bring to the forefront, matters pertinent to HR, especially in the field of telecom. With the theme ‘Managing Human Capital in a Global Economy’, the seminar had eminent speakers form ICT sector with domain expertise in HR practices.

AITTM – Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) collaboration entered its second year and to mark the occasion, Mr. Urs Pennanen, the present Country Head - India/ Nepal, Nokia Siemens Networks was present as the Guest of Honour for the HR Conclave. The Inaugural Session started with the address by Lt. Gen. P D Bhargava - Director General, AITTM. Maj Gen R K Dhawan – Director, International Affairs Division gave a wonderful presentation about Amity University to the guest students and other dignitaries present for the occasion. Maj Gen K Jai Singh – VC, Amity Universtiy also shared his thoughts about the University and the theme of the conclave. Mr. Pennanen in his address said telecom technology is a fast changing technology and India has done manifold development in this sector. Also he emphasized on the vast possibilities for development that existed in this area.

Nokia Siemens Network also awarded prestigious NSN Scholarships to meritorious students of AITTM. Ashish Talwar, Harish Jakhar, Ravi Yadav of B.Tech Third Year, Vaishali Sachdeva and Vishal Rana of B.Tech Second Year got NSN’s Merit-cum-Means scholarship. To increase the participation of women in technical fields, NSN’s ‘Women in Technology’ Merit scholarships were presented to Ritika Mehta of B.Tech Third Year and Preeti Capoor of B.Tech Second Year.

The inaugural session was followed by the first session of the conclave. Chaired by Mr. Raymond Saldanha – Head HR (India Operations) NSN, the panel included speakers like Mr. Balaji Chandra Kumar – AVP HR, Etisalat, Mr. Himanshu Sahu – Director Sales, UT Starcom, Mr. Amulya Sah - DGM HR, IBM. The discussion touched upon topics such as Performance Score Cards for measuring employee performance, HR Best Practices that were being adopted across companies etc.

The second session was chaired by Mr. Ashish Mediratta – Asst. Director HR, Huawei. The panelists included Kanishk Mallick – Head, Talent Acquisition and HR Operations, Mr. Hussain Malik – GM Human Resources, HCL Technologies Ltd, Ms. Richa Gautam – Associate Director Training, Tech Mahindra. Topics like training & development needs of employees, talent retention, recruitment processes and competency based career mapping caught the interest of the students. Students raised some pertinent questions at the end of the sessions, which were answered by the panelists with great enthusiasm.
